Chandigarh, Dec 01: After massive operation at Satlok Ashram in Hisar district to nab self styled godman Rampal, Gurmeet Ram Rahim of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect has come under scanner with the court order.
While hearing a case relating to Rampal, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday observed that the activities of Gurmeet Ram Rahim of Dera Sacha Sauda sect should be monitored on periodic basis by the administration and police.
The court observed that like Satloka asram of Rampal, a search operation should be carried out inside the Dera premises to recover any illegal arms and ammunition in order to prevent possible crackdown in which several people were killed and injured.
The court referred the matter to the chief justice bench for appropriate action.
The observations came just days after Rampal was arrested from his Satlok Ashram at Barwala in Hisar district of Haryana following a clash between police and supporters.
Rampal was guarded by his private commandos, who were trained by some former Army personnel and armed with illegal weapons inside the Dera Sacha Sauda premises.
The court said that such developments could pose a challenge "to the State".
While making the observations, the court recalled that Dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim was facing two graver cases of murder punishable under Section 302 IPC and one equally serious case of rape punishable under Section 376 IPC. He had also chosen to bring thousands and thousands of followers to the premises of the Sessions Division where the sessions trial was originally taken up.
