Rajnath Singh arrives in Chhattisgarh to Review Situation

Raipur, Dec 02: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday afternoon to take stock of the situation a day after Maoists stormed Sukma district killing 13 CRPF personnel.

However, Singh will not visit the Moaist ambush site Chintagufa. He will hold a high level meeting with the state officials in Raipur and address a press conference at 5 pm.

The yesterday's ambush was the biggest attack on security forces this year and this is the biggest loss of lives in anti-Maoist operations after BJP in Centre came to power.

The CRPF personnel injured in the Maoist ambush in Sukma were admitted to Maharani Hospital in Jagdalpur on Tuesday. Around 15 personnel had been injured in the attack.

The bodies of the deceased would be flown to Raipur for post-mortem and sent to their native places today, said ADG (anti-Maoist operation) RK Vij, adding operations against Left-wing extremists in the Bastar zone would continue.

The red rebels attacked the security forces while they were patrolling in Chintagufa. After the encounter, the ultras looted three  grenade launchers, seven AK-47 rifles, one self-loading rifle, one INSAS rifle and over 1,000 bullets, media reported.
