Excise Duty on Petrol, Diesel Hiked

New Delhi, Dec 02: The government on Tuesday hiked the excise duty of petrol and diesel by Rs 2.25 per litre and Rs 1 per litre respectively. This will be effective from 12 midnight.

The move comes close on the heels of the slashing of petrol and diesel by 91 paise and 84 paise respectively, which came into effect from midnight on Nov 30.

The hike in excise duty of petrol and diesel would help the government to generate funds without putting any pressure on the consumers.
