Final Tribute paid to Australian Batsman Phillip Hughes

Macksville, Dec 03: Cricketing luminaries, family, friends bid emotional farewell to Phillip Hughes at a funeral in Macksville, his home town, on Wednesday remembering the young cricketer whose premature death sent shock waves in the sports.

His sudden demise has shattered his parents and friends and the Australian team. Sean Abbott along with his girlfriend and New South Wales teammates were present when the procession moved towards its destination.

Australian PM Tony Abbott too was present at the funeral service for Hughes. "A sad, poignant, beautiful service to celebrate the life of Phillip Hughes today in Macksville #RIPPhillipHughes", he expressed through Twitter.

Indian cricketers Virat Kohli, Ravi Shastri, Duncan Fletcher, Murali Vijay and Rohit Sharma were also present at the funeral to pay lat tribute to the departed soul. cricket legends Brian Lara and Shane Warne were also present to pay final tribute to the young batsman, who died at the age of 25 only.

Scores of people had gathered on the streets of Macksville as the funeral procession started through the town.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his tribute to Hughes as well taking to the Twitter saying, "Heart-rending funeral in Australia. Phil Hughes, we will miss you. Your game & exuberance won you fans all over! RIP".

Sachin Tendulkar hailed Hughes' enthusiasm to learn and his drive for perfection. "Will miss you Phil. Your enthusiasm to learn and drive for perfection was most impressive. #FarewellHughes", he tweeted.

"This funeral shows how many life's the little man touched, the game is surely poorer without you, tweeted Ashwin Ravichandran.

Kumar Sangakkara also took to twitter, "Travel well phil and rest in peace", he posted.
