Former IO in AT Case appears before CBI

Bhubaneswar, Dec 03: Former investigating officer (IO) in the Artha Tatwa (AT) Group case on Wednesday appeared here before the CBI to cooperate in the ongoing probe into the multi-crore chit fund scam in Odisha.

Manoj Samanta, former IIC of Kharavel Nagar police station, arrived at the CBI office here around noon.

Talking to media after he came out of office, Samanta said that he was called by the central agency in connection with the case since he had investigated the case against the AT group before the CBI probe.

Since CBI will file a chargesheet soon in the case, the agency had called the former investigating officer seeking more clarifications on the documents related to AT scam.

Samanata was investigating after a case was lodged against the AT group at Karaval Nagar police station in February last year. He had interrogated about 55 persons, and arrested AT Group CMD Pradeep Sethy and six others. He had filed a preliminary chargesheet and supplementary chargesheet in the case with a local court here.
