Bhubaneswar, Dec 04: The banking operations in Odisha were paralysed as the employees of all the public sector banks in the state joined the four-day zone-wise strike called by the United Forum of Bank Union (UFBU) and National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE).

The transactions including the cash deposits, withdrawal and the demand draft issue were not made during the day today. The strike crippled business and commercial activities in the state.

All the public sector banks remained closed in Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim and West Bengal of the eastern zone, north eastern states and Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands apart from Odisha.

The unions had announced during its one-day nationwide strike held on November 12 this year that they would launch zone-wise relay strike demanding the revision of wage fixation.
