House stalled for 14th Consecutive Day on Chit Fund Issue

Bhubaneswar, Dec 05: The logjam continued in Odisha Assembly over the chit fund issue for 14th consecutive day on Friday forcing the Speaker Niranjan Pujari to adjourn the House till 3 pm.

The opposition members created uproar waving banners demanding a debate on the chit fund issue during the question hour. As soon as the House met, Congress chief whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati climbed into the Speaker's podium shouting slogans against the government.

The House was adjourned till 3 pm amid the din.

Yesterday, the Congress has moved a privilege notice against the Speaker after The Pioneer, an English Daily, had published a news report alleging the Speaker of being partial in the House.

The House yesterday has passed Odisha Open University Bill 2014 in the absence of Opposition members. The government alloted Rs 35 crore for open university which will be established at the Sambalpur.
