Cuttack, Dec 06: Odisha crime branch has begun a probe into the fraudulent activities of Odisha Olympic Association (OOA) including encroachment of land near Barabati stadium in Cuttack, on the direction of the Orissa High Court.
A special investigation team on Friday examined the documents seized from the OOA by the Cuttack Sadar tehsildar relating to the land near the stadium that was kept for parking purpose.
The tehsildar on Sunday had taken the possession of an encroached land and properties on it adjacent to Barabati Stadium.
Earlier, the high court had directed the crime branch police to investigate into the allegations and submit a report within three months.
There are allegations that the OOA was illegally occupying the land for last 30 years and ran business on it. Ashirbad Behera, who was the then Chairman of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation, allegedly had used his power and constructed a Kalyan Mandap, named Barabati Palace and some shops. He allowed a private firm, in which his son was proprietor, on the land.
