AAP Leader Ashok Chauhan joins BJP


New Delhi, Dec 06: In another jolt to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), its senior leader Ashok Kumar Chauhan formally joined the BJP on Saturday ahead of the possible assembly polls in New Delhi. He said that he left the AAP as he was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, the AAP leader Satyendra Jain alleged that Chauhan joined the BJP as he was not given a ticket by his party.

"There were lot of complaints against him and he was not given ticket. So he jumped parties. If there comes any complaint against any candidate then we look into the matter," he Jain said.

The Union Cabinet had given its approval for the dissolution of the Delhi State Assembly after Lieutenant-Governor (LG) Najeeb Jung's recommendation.

Earlier, Jung had sent a status report to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) over government formation in the capital after consultations with the leaders of BJP, Congress and AAP. All the parties denied to form the government due to no mandate.

Delhi has been under President rule since February after the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government stepped down after 49 days in power.
