OREDA Official quizzed by CBI in Chit Fund Scam

Bhubaneswar, Dec 08: The Deputy director of Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) Ashok Choudhury was interrogated by the CBI here on Monday in connection with the chit fund scam.

Choudhury was grilled for nearly two hours. He was questioned about the MoU signed between the OREDA and Seashore Group for a solar project in Bolangir district.

The chit fund firm had signed a MoU with OREDA in 2012 for to set up a solar power plant at Titilagarh in Bolangir district and had deposited Rs 2.53 crore for the project. However, the project was never commissioned.

Earlier, the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch during its probe into the chit fund scam had asked OREDA to cancel the MoU with the Seashore.
