AT Scam: Interim Bail Plea of Ranjan Dash rejected

Cuttack, Dec 12: In a setback to AT scam accused Ranjan Dash, who is lodged in Jharapada jail after being arrested by the CBI in the multi-crore chit fund scam, Orissa High Court on Friday rejected his interim bail plea.

The court while rejecting the bail plea of Dash, fixed the next date for hearing the matter for January first week of 2015.

He had moved to the High Court seeking the bail on the health ground. In his plea he said that he was suffering from cancer.

The court had directed the Acharya Harihar Cancer Research Institute (AHCRI) to examine his health and submit a report. However, his claim turned out be false after a four-member team of doctors of the Institute examined him and found that he was not suffering from cancer. The report was submitted on Dec 6 to the court.

Ranjan Dash, the co-founder of Artha Tatwa (AT) Group, is said to be a close aide of Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy. He is among the 16 others chargesheeted by the CBI yesterday in the AT group chit fund scam.
