Land Allotment Scam: HC asks Govt to submit Task Force Report in Closed Envelope

Cuttack, Dec 13: Orissa High Court has directed the state government to submit the Task Force probe report into the government land allotment scam in a closed envelope.

Hearing a PIL on the plot allotment, the court asked the government to attach the action-taken report along with the Task Force probe report in the court. The PIL filed by Ramesh chandra Sahu of Cuttack had appealed to the court seeking a CBI probe into the land allotment scam.

The state government had constituted a Task Force on Aug 2 headed by senior IAS officer Tara Dutta comprising Secretaries of General Administration and Urban Development departments as its members to probe the matter after the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) stated irregularities in allotment of government land in its reports.

The CAG alleged many influential people of acquiring more than one government plot and flat that violated the norms of discretionary quota.

The government had directed the panel to examine all the flats and plots allotted between 1995 and July 31, 2014. The Task Force was asked to submit its report in four months. Even though, the probe report has been submitted to the government on Oct 31, the report was not made public.
