Ghent, Dec 15: After Sydney hostage crisis, another man was taken hostage in Belgium by the militants indicating the terrorists were determined to create terror in different parts of the world at a time.

Unconfirmed reports suggested that the four militants had taken a man hostage in a flat in the Belgian city of Ghent and police urged the residents to remain indoors for their own safety.

Police have cordoned the area to carryout the operation carefully to rescue the hostage.

According to BBC Report, the militants entered the flat in the Dampoort area of the city, in northern Belgium. The federal authorities were now in control of the siege. Belgian TV said that another siege had taken place in Ghent in October, involving a man implicated in an earlier hostage-taking. That incident involved an unpaid debt, it reported.
