ISIS threatens Similar Sydney Hostage Situation in Bangalore

Bangalore, Dec 15: Terror threats to India are rising once again after a series of blasts and explosions in the major cities. But this time it is not from Al Qaeda or Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), but from the most dreaded outfit Islamic States, which has threatened to carry out a siege in Bangalore similar to the ongoing hostage situation in Sydney.

The Bangalore police on Monday confirmed that a notice had been sent to the Indian offices of the social networking site, threatening a similar siege in the IT hub after the hostages were taken by a militant inside a cafe in Sydney on Monday morning.

"Our investigative officer issued a notice to Twitter Corporation in India, and we have asked them to provide to us with data, to which they have responded already. It is still an ongoing process," Bangalore Police Commissioner M. N. Reddi told the media.

Reddi further stated that though the authorities were aware on a twitter account, which has threatened to stage a siege similar to the ongoing hostage situation in Sydney, the police were at present ascertaining the location of its operator.

Earlier this week, the Bangalore Police had arrested Mehdi Masroor Biswas for allegedly operating a pro- ISIS Twitter account following the claim by Britain-based Channel 4 News that stated that the @ShamiWitness account, which reportedly had a massive 17,700 followers, was being run by an executive based in Bangalore.
