Railways to have Women Wing for RPF

New Delhi, Dec 19: Indian Railways has announced its plan to form a separate women wing for the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to provide safety to women travelers in trains.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday said that the Centre is planning to form a women wing, which will be named the Mahila Vahini Sqad. He has written to the Finance Ministry for the sanction of money.

Prabhu further stated that as per the plan, the RPF will require over 4,000 women constable and if approved, the force will initiate the process of recruitment soon.
