VHP reconverts 33 Christians in Kerala, says More Likely in Coming Days

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 22: As many as 33 Christians including 8 families from Kanichanaloor village were reconverted to Hinduism in Kerala by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad as part of its "ghar wapsi" (Home Coming) campaign launched by the RSS.

The reconversions were made through a ritual held at a temple on Sunday under the guidance of VHP district secretary Prathap G. At Anchal in Kollam. He said that the reconversion was not forcible.

However, the Congress government in the state has ordered a probe into the incident. While ADGP (Intelligence) A Hemachandran has been ordered to investigate the matter, the police said that no complaint has been received yet in this regard.

On the other hand, the VHP said that more reconversions to Hinduism would be made in the coming days. The origin of the Christians and Muslims was Hindu and if they are willing to embrace Hinduism again, no issue should be there.

The VHP in the state has launched a helpline offering support for those who want to embrace Hinduism. Sources said they have already received around 200 queries from across Kerala and "ghar wapsi" event would be held in all districts on December 25.

The Hindu group said that several Hindus had left the religion on account of the inhumane treatment they got. They adopted Christianity under the influence of foreign money after they were promised to get all the facilities to their families.
