PDP takes lead in J&K, Confident of Forming Govt

Srinagar, Dec 23: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seems to be confident to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir as the party is leading in 32 seats, pushing the BJP to second position in the neck and neck fight in the elections.

Since the state is heading for the hung assembly, the PDP said that choosing an ally to form the government is hard one and the decision would be taken without compromising on the ideology and agenda.

"This is a very complicated situation. Jammu and Kashmir is a very complex state and we need to reach out to every region, every community to have an inclusive government. How we do that without compromising on our ideology and agenda is a great challenge," PDP spokesperson Naeem Akhtar told ANI.

As per the latest trends for the 87-member assembly, PDP is leading in 32 seats (3 win), while BJP in 25 (4 win), Cong in 10 (1 win) and others leading in 5 seats.

While BJP emerged as the major party in the state with Modi wave created magic in the elections, Congress was seen as the biggest loser. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was defeated in two seats in the elections. The development could be seen as the reply to the government after the Kashmir floods that devastated thousands of homes and brought maximum casualties due to negligence of the administration.
