Bhubaneswar, Dec 26: The ruling BJD of Odisha is celebrating its 17th foundation day today across the state. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who is the supreme in the party, addressed an event at the state capital stating that state is still victim of central apathy.
Attending a function today, Patnaik hit out at the central government for not allocating funds to the state under the federal structure. "Since the BJD is committed to work for the interests of the state, the party would continue its fight against the Centre for negligence towards Odisha. Our objective is service, struggle, good governance and dignity", he said.
He alleged both Congress and BJP of defaming the regional party BJD through various means even after they bit the dust repeatedly in the assembly elections in past 17 years. The BJD has been able to win the trust of over 4 crore people of Odisha, defeating other political parties for three times consecutively.
"Our success is a cause of concern for these national parties and that is why they have launched a vilification campaign against the BJD. These parties have never been with the people of the state and would never fight for the interest of the state," he added.
He said that state has witnessed remarkable economic growth and industrial development during his party's tenure and the growth rate remained higher than the national average. He said that the government has fulfilled its promises made in the election manifesto and the party is committed to work for the upliftment of backwards and downtrodden.
While CM attended the event in the state capital, all the ministers and MLAs have been asked to celebrate the success of the party at their districts and constituencies to highlight the government's achievements and various schemes introduced for the people in the state.
