BJP to launch "Maha Sangram" Campaign against Odisha Govt from Jan 6

News

Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: The BJP has decided to launch a mega campaign Maha Sangram against Odisha government across the state from January 6 during the two-day visit of party president Amit Shah.

The campaign would be launched at a meeting to be addressed by the BJP chief Amit Shah, who is scheduled to visit Odisha on January 6 for two days when he will discuss with the party workers to strengthen the party in the state. It is believed that the leadership change is likely in Odisha during his visit who will take forward the party that will be pro-people.

"We will reach out to people across the state against the BJD government, which is mired in scams and corruption. The campaign will start from a meeting to be attended by the BJP president and will be intensified across the state exposing the misdemeanor of the state government," senior BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra said in a conference here on Tuesday.

The party will campaign against the government over various issues like mining, chit fund and land scams.

Mohapatra alleged that the arbitrary land allotment by the General Administration department at low premium has incurred a loss to the tune of Rs 251 crore to the state exchequer as per the report of the Accountant General (AG).

The government has also supported the ministers and bureaucrats on the allotment of houses and plots under discretionary quota that resulted in the massive irregularities. He said that the chief minister, who is in charge of the General Administration department, was responsible since the department had allotted the lands at a very low premium in gross violation of the allotment norms and procedures.

Even though, the state government had announced cancellation of plots and houses of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) and Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB) allotted under discretionary quota since January 1995 as per the cabinet decision and Task Force report, but it did not expose the real scam in the allotment of land made by the GA department by not incorporating the list of allotment of land with the list of the Task Force.

He termed the cabinet decision on the cancellation of land under the discretionary quota as "faulty".

He also hit out at Naveen Patnaik on the chit fund issue saying the CM has been clarifying that none of his party leaders were involved in the ponzi scam but it appeared as false when the CBI began probe and arrested several BJD leaders in the massive scam.

Similarly, Justice MB Shah Commission in its report on the mining scam had described it as massive scam in Odisha, but no action was taken against the culprits till the date.

The government has lost all moral rights to remain in power in the state. Time has come to dethrone the government. The chief minister should dissolve the cabinet and face law for all the misdeeds committed during the last 15 years, the BJP leader said.
