New Year Celebrations disrupted, Heavy Rainfall likely in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Jan 01: The New Year celebrations went into vain in parts of Odisha as the bad weather due to low pressure killed the charm. Most parts of the coastal districts may experience mild or heavy rainfall on the first day of the year 2015.

The low pressure would affect the southwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coast with rainfall and wind during this chilling winter.

The MeT department forecast heavy rain in the next 24 hours at most places in the state under the influence of the low pressure.

However, no storm warning has been issued. The MeT office suggested fishermen to be cautious while venturing into the sea.

People waited to see the sunrise on the New Year, however, the cloudy sky with mild rain foiled the charm.
