PK Biggest Earning Film in Bollywood, collects Rs 278 crore

Mumbai, Jan 03: Amidst the continued protests Aamir Khan-starrer PK has broken all the records to become the highest grossing film in Bollywood by earning Rs 278.52 crore since its release on Dec 19.

Even though, the film was criticised for its script that allegedly hurts the sentiments of religious leaders, continued to entertain the young generations with presentation real pictures of the society.

The Hindu groups alleged that the Rajkumar Hirani-directed film disrespects Hindu religion. However, this was rejected by the filmmaker and the unit.

The outstanding performance by the perfectionist Khan and the strong script brought overwhelming response to the filmmaker from across the country as well as the overseas. This proved that the content is king. Hirani, who faced criticism for the controversial theme, said that he will continue making films what he believes in. He rejected the allegations that the film hurts Hindu sentiments.

The message in the film is loud and clear. Those who have watched the film will never question on the theme, but the protests still continue in India demanding its ban.

PK is the second film by Aamir and Hirani after 3 Idiots that had collected Rs 202 crore at the box office to join the highest earning films' club. It collected Rs 124 crore in the overseas markets.

Now, Dhoom 3 is the second biggest earner with Rs 271.82 crore followed by Salman Khan's Kick (Rs 244 crore) and SRK's Chennai Express (Rs 228 crore).
