Bhubaneswar, Jan 03: The wild elephant, which had created panic in the Nandankanan Zoological Park here, was finally captured by the forest officials today. The jumbo was first tranquilized and then with the help of other elephants the tusker was controlled.
According to the reports, the wild tusker had entered into the Elephant Safari area of the zoo on Dec 31. It started attacking other elephants in the safari, which houses three elephants Prema, Heera and Basanti, creating terror among the tourists.
The zoo officials failed to control the wild elephant and finally sought the assistance from the forest department. As many as 30 forest officials along with six trained elephants including Jashoda and Nanda were engaged to control the jumbo.
