Labourer succumbs to Injuries after losing Hand in Maize Mill Mishap

Koraput, Jan 03: A labourer, who had lost his right hand in an accident in a maize processing mill at Chudeipara near his village in Nabarangpur district, succumbed to his injuries in the wee hours on Saturday.

The victim Jugadev Gond of Marapara died at the Koraput district headquarters hospital where he was undergoing treatment after his right hand was crushed while working in a maize processing mill at Chudeipara.

He had sustained injuries in his left hand too. He was admitted to the hospital in Koraput in a very critical condition yesterday.

He hails from Marapara village under Raighar block of Nabarangpur district. His right hand was crushed in the wheels of the machine.

Meanwhile, the Nabarangpur district administration has formed a three-member committee to probe into the incident. An immediate compensation of Rs 7,000 has been provided to the family of the victim.

The administration also provided Rs 2,000 under the Harishchandra Yojana to the family members for the last rites of the deceased.
