Annual Senior Police Officers Conference begins in Cuttack

Cuttack, Jan 07: The annual senior police officers' conference began here this morning. The two-day event will be inaugurated and chaired by the Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjeev Marik at the Senior Police Officers' Mess.

All district SPs, armed police commandants, range IGs and DIGs, IPS officers under training, senior officers of various establishments like home guards, fire, vigilance and prison would participate in the annual conference, which was earlier known as IPS officers' conference to discuss several topics.

This year, the officers will broadly discuss the theme "Police reach-ability and response to weaker sections of the society". Left wing extremism, law and order and crime against women and child would be discussed among other topics.

Sources said that the DGP Sanjeev Marik will broadly discuss with the officers on the issues related law and order problems in Odisha, smooth conduct of Nabakalebara festival, operation smile, Bachpan Bachao campaign and Maoist menace in the state.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would attend the valedictory session on Thursday.
