Krishna Kant Paul takes Oath as Uttarakhand Governor

Dehradun, Jan 08: Former IPS officer Krishna Kant Paul was sworn-in as the new Governor of Uttarakhand on Thursday. He took over the charge from Aziz Qureshi, who has been appointed as the Governor of Mizoram.

Paul was administered the oath of office and secrecy by the senior justice of Uttarakhand High Court VK Bisht.

The oath taking ceremony was held at Raj Bhawan lawns. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, state Assembly Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal, Leader of Opposition Ajay Bhatt and senior government officials, including Chief Secretary N Ravishankar were present during the swearing-in event.

After the ceremony, Paul, the sixth Governor of the state, was given a guard of honour by 11 Sikh light infantry division of the Indian Army.

Earlier, he had served as the Governor of Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram.
