Sanjay Dutt to surrender Today as Furlough Extension Plea Dismissed


Mumbai, Jan 10: In no relief to Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, he will have to go back to Yerwada Jail in Pune once again as his furlough extension request has been rejected.

On the other hand, the Maharashtra government has ordered a probe into the repeated paroles granted to the actor. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took a tough stand saying his government will neither favour anyone not will do any kind of discrimination while granting leaves to the convicts.

He was out of jail on a 14-day furlough during Christmas and New Year. He had appealed seeking an extension in his 14-day long furlough which is now dismissed.

With the rejection of his application, he will surrender today.

Dutt has been granted parole several times since he was convicted in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case by the Supreme Court in 2013. He is serving his remaining 42 months jail term, but he has been seen out of jail either through parole or furlough.
