Chargesheet filed against Sabyasachi Panda in Berhampur

Berhampur, Jan 14: Police have filed a preliminary chargesheet against top Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda in Berhampur Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate court here.

The chargesheet was filed on Monday after six months of his arrest. In the 120-page chargesheet 20 people have been named as witnesses. Police have mentioned about the seizure of one gun and 71 items during the operation to arrest Panda in the chargesheet.

However, the whereabouts of Chandra Rao, the owner of the house, where Sabyasachi was hiding, is yet to be ascertained. Police have mentioned him as absconder in the chargesheet. His mother has been named as the prime witness in it.

Sabyasachi was arrested from a house in Bada Bazar area of Berhampur on July 17, 2014. He was staying at the house on rent. Police alleged that Rao and Panda had close relations.
