Harishankar Brahma to be Next CEC after Sampath

New Delhi, Jan 14: Harishankar Brahma, Union power secretary, will be the New Chief Election Commissioner after CEC Veeravalli Sundaram Sampath, whose tenure ends on Thursday.

Brahma, 60, the 1975 IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, hails from Assam. He will be the second CEC from the northeast region of India after J M Lyndogh.
