Murder case Accused sentenced to Death in Jajpur

Jajpur, Jan 15: A District and Sessions Judge Court in Jajpur on Thursday sentenced a man to death in a double-murder case. He was accused of killing his widowed aunt and her father over a property dispute in 2011.

Ganeswar Mahanta, the accused, stabbed Kanchan Mahanta, his aunt, and her father Dukhabandhu Mahanta to death in Banagaon Nata sahi village under Sukinda police limits of Jajpur district. The incident took place on March 14, 2011.

He had attacked them with a sharp weapon following a dispute over family property. He was absconding after the incident.

Later, he surrendered before the judicial magistrate court in Jajpur after police threatened his parents to nab the accused.
