87 Migrant Labourers rescued in Bolangir

Bolangir, Jan 15: Police on Thursday rescued at least 87 migrant labourers from Loisingha railway station in Bolangir district. A contractor has been detained in human trafficking case. He was allegedly sending these labourers to outside states.

Police rescued the labourers acting on the information. Last year in December, at least 384 migrant labourers were rescued in Bolangir and Bargarh districts.

Although, the Odisha government has taken several measures to prevent the migration of labourers, such cases are frequently being reported in the western Odisha districts.

Recently, the government has decided to identify the migrant labourers at the panchayat level ensuring their safety and welfare.
