OAS 2011 Merit List Row: Orissa HC scraps SAT Order

Cuttack, Jan 16: Orissa High Court on Friday canceled the order of State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) that had directed the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to prepare a revised merit list of OAS preliminary examination 2011.

While hearing the case today, the high court directed the tribunal for a fresh judgment in this matter within three months.

It should be noted that the OPSC had moved the high court challenging the SAT order that had rejected the preliminary OAS 2011 merit list on August 26, 2014. The SAT had directed it to prepare a fresh merit list.

The preliminary OAS exam was conducted on January 19, 2014 and more than 35,000 candidates had appeared the exam. There were allegations that the candidates were given grace marks after the permission from the OPSC following the wrong questions in different subjects. About 5,823 candidates had qualified the prelims and the main exam schedule was fixed to Sep 6, 2014.

However, the SAT had rejected the list after 8 candidates complained of the grace marking allowed by the OPSC terming it illegal.
