Chit Fund Accused Ranjan Dash to Remain in Jharapada Jail

Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: The Owner of chit fund company Swastik India Multi-State Cooperative Society, Ranjan Dash, who was arrested in connection with the multi-crore scam, will be in Jaharapada jail as a plea on shifting him to Choudwar jail was rejected today by the Special CBI court here. 

As per the court's order, Dash will be provided medical treatment in Cuttack while being lodged in Jharapada jail in Bhubaneswar. 

The Jharapada jail authorities had filed a petition to relocate Ranjan Dash to Choudwar jail on health grounds. In a plea, they appealed that Dash is suffering from oral cancer and he needs frequent medical checkup for the disease, which is at primary stage. 

Very often, he is being taken to Acharya Harihar Cancer Research Institute (AHCRI) in Cuttack for the treatment. The authorities said that if he would be shifted to Choudwar jail it would be convenient for them to provide him treatment. 

However, the court turned down their plea and stated that he could be given treatment at the cancer hospital in Cuttack. There is no need to shift him to another jail.
