Madhuri urges People to save Girl Child, educate Her

Panipat, Jan 22: Veteran actress Madhuri Dixit Nene, who has been roped in as brand ambassador of the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" initiative, today took up the issue of gender bias.

On a stage in Haryana, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the initiative, Madhuri said the unbalanced sex ratio is an issue which needs to be addressed with urgency.

The Bollywood beauty who has done women centric movies like "Gulab Gang" and "Lajja" expressed concern over the grave issue.

"According to the figures, the ratio of females is decreasing day by day. This is very alarming. It is a warning bell. So I am proud that in the very first year our government has taken initiatives like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme. I am expecting a lot from this programme as a mother, sister and a daughter. I wish this Nation give birth to more girls. I hope they get so much opportunity to flourish in every sector that they take our nation to the first position", said the actress.
