Case registered against Hindalco in Coal Scam

Bhubaneswar, Jan 24: In an ongoing investigation into the coal block allocation scam, the CBI has registered a case against the Hindalco, owned by the Aditya Birla Group.

Apart from Hindalco, the case has also been filed against unknown officials in connection with the scam in Odisha.

The CBI alleged that the coal was used in illegal manner in the power plant. The case was registered after former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was reportedly examined by the CBI in connection with the allocation of Talabira II and III coal blocks in Sundargarh district Odisha to Hindalco.

The CBI also interrogated Kumaramangalam Birla, head of the Aditya Bila Group, in this case after questioning Dr Singh.
