Two Russian Nationals detained in Niali

Cuttack, Jan 24: Police detained two Russian nationals found in a dumper that allegedly hit a private bus in Niali. The details were not revealed to media. However, it is early to state any terror link in this matter.

The two Russians were detained on Friday evening. They were later taken to Puri from where they had come. They were interrogated till late night. Nothing is revealed yet.

According to reports, the two youths are engineering students. They had visited Puri recently. They were earlier staying in Iran for few years. They caught a dumper that was coming from Konark to Phulnakhara. That dumper hit a private bus that was coming from Jagatsinghpur to Puri near Jallarpur Chhak.

Later, the dumper driver took the vehicle to a village in Niali and fled the area fearing arrest.

The villagers informed the police about two foreign youths found in the dumper and they were detained by the police. Later, the driver of the dumper was also arrested.

The police took up the matter seriously as the Intelligence Bureau has warned of possible terror attacks in four states including Odisha before January 28.
