RK Laxman No More, Maharashtra Govt announces State Funeral for Him

New Delhi, Jan 27: Legendary cartoonist RK Laxman is no more and the Maharashtra government has announced a state funeral to him today.

Laxman passed away at a private hospital on Monday evening. He was 94. The last rites will be performed at Vaikuntha Crematorium around 12 noon today.

President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all the political leaders, film industry, actors and businessmen have expressed their grief over the death of Laxman, the creator of the iconic "The Common Man".

The Padma Vibhusan Laxman had created special a space in journalism through his cartoons that satirised the leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi.
