Delhi Polls: Congress promises to provide Flats, Houses to Slum Dwellers

New Delhi, Jan 29: The struggling Congress has promised to bring an Act to provide house to poor Delhities if the party comes to power in Delhi. The party released the draft of right to housing Bill to woo the slum dwellers a day after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi addressed a rally in the national capital yesterday.

Releasing the draft, Congress general secretary Ajay Maken said that the proposed Act will provide housing and property rights to the slum dwellers in Delhi. Under this law, each slum dweller will be provided flats those who do not own a house in the national capital. The documents of the flats will be in the name of the senior most woman of the family.

The law will also guarantee the basic things like water, sanitation, electricity and road lights in the area where the flats will be built for the slum dwellers.

He promised that the flats will be given to the slum people without any cost. The party will take care of the processes of handing over the houses to them if it is voted to power in Delhi Assembly elections.
