Bhubaneswar, Jan 29: The prime suspect in the triple murder case in Odisha capital was arrested this morning from Jatni area. The accused was absconding after killing three people in Bharatpur area, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
The accused Bhavani alias Bhubana Panda was hiding in a forest area of Jatni after committing the crime. He was brought to Khandagiri Police station from where he was taken to the commissionerate police headquarters for further interrogation.
Briefing the media persons today following the arrest, Twin City Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sharma said that Bhavani was the prime suspect in the sensational triple murder case.
He revealed that the property dispute led to the death of three people. Bhavani killed Chakradhar Sahu, his wife Sukanti Sahu and another woman Shanti Pati, who is the grandmother of the accused.
Narrating the story, Commissioner said that Bhavani had married the granddaughter of Chakradhar Sahu alias Kalia. After few years of marriage, Bhavani's wife, who was the granddaughter of Kalia, committed suicide. After her death, Kalia married another woman as there was nobody to share his property. He later gave the power of attorney to his new wife's brother, who repaid the amount to the person, who had lent some amount to Kalia. Kalia had kept his house as mortgage before the lender.
Opposing the move, Bhavani demanded his right on the property of Kalia. When he denied registering the house in Bhavani's name, he was angry and attacked him and his wife with a sharp weapon at his home in Bharatpur. When his grandmother intervened, she was not left too.
Police will also investigate what forced Bhavani's wife to take extreme step that she committed suicide.
