Haridaspur-Paradip Railway Project on Hold, Land Owners demand Proper Payment

Jajpur, Jan 30: The ongoing railway project between Haridaspur and Paradip line in Jajpur was put on hold after the locals demanded appropriate amount for their land acquired by the Railway department.

The agitating land owners alleged of discrimination in compensation rates for their land. They stopped the project demanding exact price.

The railway line will pass through Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts. The protesters alleged that the government had paid different rates to the owners for the land having same valuation.

According to the villagers, the government has paid Rs 5 lakh per acre in Jajpur, Rs 30 lakh in Polei village in Jajpur and Rs 25 lakh per acre in Jagatsinghpur district. Even the railway bridges, which are under construction, are low in height and that put villagers in trouble while carrying anything under the bridge.
