News

Bhubaneswar, Feb 03: The protests across the state are likely to intensify in the upcoming days over the murder of a RTI activist Krupansindhu Sahu if the culprits and masterminds will not be exposed.

Meanwhile, the Odisha Congress has threatened to gherao the Assembly on Feb 18 if the killers of Krupansindhu Sahu are not arrested within 15 days.

Sahu, a farmer of Nachhigan village under Niali police station in Cuttack district, was killed for exercising his right through the RTI Act to know the irregularities in the implementation of the scheme meant for the paddy farming in the area.

He was the victim of the conspiracy when he sought information from the district agriculture officer about the utilization of money and fertilizer in the paddy farming. He was found dead on January 31 in another area. He was missing from January 26 following threats from the culprits.

The police have arrested three including two women in this case. Further, a 4-member team of Human Rights have reached the spot and recorded the statements of the victims' family and collected some data regarding the murder.

However, the opposition political parties are not satisfied with the progress of the probe and demanded strong action against the killers as well as the conspirators.
