Obama lauds Dalai Lama as Good Friend, China fumes


Washington, Feb 06: US President Barack Obama ignited China with anger after he praised Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama as his "good friend" during his meeting with the Buddhist monk on Thursday in Washington.

China fumed after the whole world witnessed Obama and Dalai Lama appeared together for the first time in public. Despite the objection by the Chinese government over the meeting between Obama and the spiritual leader, Obama played a masterstroke at the National Prayer Breakfast.

At the Washington Hilton, Obama while addressing the event attended by about 3,300 religious leaders from different countries refereed Dalai Lama a powerful example who inspires us to speak up for the freedom and dignity of all human beings.
