Odisha Assembly Budget Session: Ruckus in House during Zero Hour

Bhubaneswar, Feb 07: The Odisha assembly witnessed ruckus by the opposition parties in the House during zero hour on Saturday. However, there was no disruption during question hour.

The House was adjourned twice at 11.50 am and 12 noon during zero hour. Speaker Niranjan Pujari first adjourned the House after Congress members including Tara Prasad Bahinipati raised questions over various issues like paddy procurement and rushed to well of the House.

After the House met, Congress MLA Naba Das raised the murder case issue of RTI activist Krupasindhu Sahu of Nacchigaan in Niali demanding a statement from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. This triggered chaos in the House forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House till 12.30 pm.

The logjam continued even after the House met at 12.30 pm. Speaker gave a ruling asking the CM to give a statement in the House on the murder of RTI activist on Feb 9. Currently, Patnaik is on Delhi tour to attend the NITI Aayog meeting on Sunday.

After he comes back, he will brief the House on this burning issue.
