Anup Jalota donates Yash Bharti Award Cash to Promote Bhagwat Gita in Urdu

Lucknow, Feb 09: Bhajan maestro Anup Jalota has donated his YashBharti Award cash prize worth Rs 11 lakh to a Lucknow-based Trust to promote Bhagwat Gita through Urdu.

Earlier in the day UP chief minister conferred Yash Bharti upon Anup Jalota for 2013-14.

The award is one of the highest state level awards, conferred for excellence in literature, fine arts, folk music, classical music and sports and carries a cash prize of Rs 11 lakh, a citation and a shawl.

Yash Bharti is a very big honour and when we are facilitated in our home then it feels great. "I thank Akhilesh and his government for giving me this honour. The money which I have got from the government which is of Rs11 lakh has been donated to "help U" by which they will make a Jalota music academy and will record Bhagwat Gita in Urdu", he said.
