US shuts down Embassy Operations in Yemen for Security Reasons

Washington, Feb 11: The United States closed its embassy operations in Yemen for indefinite period citing the security reasons, evacuating all its staff in the country.

The department of state said that the embassy operations in Yemen were shut down on Feb 11 as the security situation in Sanaa is worsened and all the American staff and their families have been evacuated from the country and they have been relocated.

The embassy operations were suspended in the country till further notice.

The sudden move came after the ruling Shia militants warned the US and UN that had been trying to resolve crisis and establish peace after uprising that forced the long time President Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down in the country.
