President Pranab Mukherjee hosts Conference of Governors Today

New Delhi, Feb 11: President Pranab Mukherjee is hosting the 46th Governors' Conference at the Rashtrapati Bhawan today. The two-day conference will focus on the key issues like security, sanitation, skill development programmes and financial reforms.

The event was attended by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union finance minister Arun Jaitley, Union External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Urban Development minister M Venkiah Naidu, Drinking Water and Sanitation minister Uma Bharti and the Governors of all the states including 21 Governors and two Lt. governors of the states and Union Territories after it began on Wednesday morning.

The prime agenda of the conference is internal and external security in the states like Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, West Bengal, Assam and the states that share international borders.

The conference will also discuss the Swachh Bharat Mission and the goal to achieve by 2019 on MK Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, the skill development programmes and focus on the employment generation and the financial reforms in the states.

The issues related to northeast states about the Fifth and Sixth Schedule of the Constitution will be discussed during the conference.
