Ptana, Feb 11: In a big blow to JD(U) leader and former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Patna High Court on Wednesday declared his appointment as the leader of legislature party "illegal".
Nitish was elected as the party leader on Saturday and before Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi he had claimed to form the government with the support of 130 MLAs. The party has expelled Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi from the party after he refused to quit the top post in the state.
Defiant Manjhi has also claimed he has majority to stay in power and asked for the floor test in the House to show the strength.
However, the final decision is yet to be taken by the Governor.
The latest development would upset Nitish, who wants to be the CM replacing Manjhi in Bihar.
