Kalahandi, Feb 12: An encounter between police forces and Maoists took place near Samlabhata village in Kalahandi district of Odisha on Wednesday. Some Maoists are reported to have sustained injuries.
The encounter took place during a combing operation conducted jointly by police forces of Rayagada and Kalahandi districts.
However, the Maoists managed to flee taking advantage of dense bushes and tough terrain.
Police had launched a combing operation near Samlabhata village on a tip off about the presence of Maoists at villages near the border areas of Rayagada and Kalahandi districts.
Police have recovered one switch board of landmines, one tiffin-bomb landmine, four electric detonators, 30-metre-long electric wire including books and garments of daily use.
