Probe ordered into Bangalore-Ernakulam Express Derailment

New Delhi, Feb 13: Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Friday ordered a probe into the derailment of the Bangalore-Ernakulam Intercity Express that claimed 10 lives so far.

Expressing his grief over the tragedy, Prabhu announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of people were killed and Rs 50,000 for those seriously injured in the incident. He said that Rs 20,000 will be given to those received minor injuries in the mishap.

At least 10 people died and over 60 were injured when nine coaches of Bangalore-Eknakulam Intercity express train derailed on Friday morning near Anekal and Hosur.

The rescue operation is on. Hundreds of passengers are trapped in the coaches. The express train derailed around 7.40 am between Anekal-Hosur in Tamil Nadu.
