Pradip Amat presents Odisha Budget 2015-16

Bhubaneswar, Feb 16: Odisha finance minister Pradip Amat presented the state budget for the year 2015-16 today, keeping the interest of farmers and common people in mind to make it pro-people budget.

The minister first presented the agriculture budget allocating a total of 10, 903, 62 crore fund for various agriculture schemes and yojnas. Special focus has been given on the irrigation, fertiliser, seeds, in the agriculture budget for this fiscal.

The government has allocated Rs 100 crore corpus fund for fertiliser, Rs 100 crore corpus for seeds, for deep tube-well Rs 520 cr, for irrigation (jal nidhi) Rs 160 crore. For national agricultural development, Rs 554.54 crore, for soil and water preservation Rs 258.17 crore has been allocated in the budget.

In order to meet the shortage of potatoes in the state, the government has allocated Rs 50 crore for the potato mission. Also Rs 50 crore has been allocated for building the cold stores for preservation of potatoes in the state.

The government has allocated fund Rs 90 crore for Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojna, Rs 160 crore for corp insurance, Rs 384 crore as subsidy for short term and long term farming loans, and increased to Rs 6, 212, 15 crore for the base of the irrigation and its execution for the farming in this budget.

The minister presented the General budget in the second part allocating a total of Rs 84,487 crore 77 lakh for several sectors in the state. The government has set the target expenditure of Rs 359 crore 55 lakh and Rs 31 crore 91 lakh for the schemes sponsored by the central schemes and centre respectively in the budget.

For state schemes, Rs 44,150 crore has been allocated out of which Rs 40,150 crore for government sector and Rs 4000 crore for general sector will be spent.

The government has raised the expenditure money to Rs 29,092 crore 19 lakh for social sector. High focus has been given to the education sector by allocating Rs 9997 crore 49 lakh for school and mass education, Rs 1989 crore 11 lakh for higher education, Rs 7057 crore 10 lakh for panchayatiraj departments in the budget.

The government has allocated Rs 1800 crore for the construction of 3000 km-long road under Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojna, Rs 3611 core 88 lakh for home department, giving special attention on the modernisation of the police, house building, purchase of equipments.

For construction of shelter and houses after Phailin and flood, Rs 14 crore and Rs 420 crore have been allocated respectively.

Special arrangement will be made for the Nabakalebar festival by allocating Rs 20 crore. Again Rs 5 crore has been allocated for the preservation of various Jagannath temples across the state.

Also for free bus services from Malatipatpur to Puri town during Nabakalebar, Rs 40 lakh has been allocated and for the infrastructure in power sector during the famous festival Rs 67 crore has been allocated in the general budget.
