PM Modi extends Greetings to Nation on Maha Shivratri

New Delhi, Feb 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the national on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri on Tuesday. Taking to Twitter, he said, "Greetings on Maha Shivratri".

Long lines were seen in the early morning in all the Shiv temples across the country to offer prayer and darshan of Shiv Lingam on the holy day. The festival is auspicious for all the Hindu devotees, who stay on fasting, awake all the night lighting the diya and chanting the slokas and mantras of Lord Shiva.

According to mythology, Maa Parvati and Lord Shiva were reunited on this night after a long ago of gap between two after Devi Sati destroyed her body during Yajna conducted by her father Dakhya Prajapati. Devi Sati and Maa Parvati were the same and incarnations of Maa Adi Shakti.
